No Magic Thyroid Diet
Once you are euthyroid on treatment, normal healthy-eating principles apply. There is no evidence-based "thyroid diet" that burns fat or cures hypothyroidism.
Small, Real Cautions
- Soy and high-dose biotin: large soy amounts and high-dose biotin can interfere with thyroid lab accuracy around blood tests — not necessarily with the thyroid itself. Space them from testing.
- Adequate selenium and iodine: from a normal diet; avoid mega-dosing without testing.
- Consistent medication timing: levothyroxine on an empty stomach, away from calcium/iron.
The bigger weight question is usually non-thyroid — see hypothyroidism metabolism and the Hypothyroidism hub.
Educational only. Supplement and diet changes should be discussed with your clinician, especially around lab timing.
